Since Thursday I have prepared my objects to be cover in tin foil and clay.
My idea for this project is a vase like form representing my great grandmother through pattern, material, and form. My mom created a hat box out of handmade paper and my nana's costume jewelry which contains all the items from her wedding. We also have a number of other things that were hers that I am looking at for inspiration.
Tomorrow I will be finishing up tapping the box and cutting out the foam.
This is the object I am casting for my box mold. I was attracted to the pattern of on the 2 parts (epoxy glue the top and bottom parts today so they will be fully set by Tuesday). I was thinking if for some reason the form as a whole didn't turn out how I was hoping I could still work with the patterns of the glass.
This is my upright pourable mold. This piece is also epoxy glued - the top and the bottom being separate pieces. The patterning on these pieces also interested me.
Here are small ceramic pieces I found at Goodwill that I was hoping to make small casts of and then graft onto the vase like shapes of the box and pourable mold forms.
