In progress

Thinking back to my last piece I am still very interesting in the decomposition of the object and the ritual or spirituality of the object.  The objects I have chosen are good luck charms, wishing vessels, or objects to absorb bad energy.  I am looking at the molds I created as possibly 2 or even 3 separate projects.

I was thinking about the wishing well and the history of tossing coins into fountains.

I found this interesting article:
For the small coin mold I want to make them into fizzing bath bombs, so when it is tossed into the fountain or pond they instantly will completely dissolve.

Materials for bath bombs:
• citric acid
• bicarbonate of soda
• essential oils
• sweet almond oil
• food coloring

I do want to continue working in wax so I was also hoping to make small wishing vessels that will be melted down when the small interior fire is ignited.  I was thinking about tossing these into a controlled fire rather then lighting them from within.  The reside over the fire/logs/form will ultimately create the shrine.

Materials:
• wax (parafin and bees wax)
• natural dyes

I am also thinking about casting the large ceramic shape in paper pulp.
Here is a sample image.

What I like about the pulp is that I could decompose it in a variety of ways (fire, water, outdoor exposure, burying it in the ground).  I think this piece would function as more of a self portrait - similar to the box I made sophomore year or the urn I made from my great grandmother.

Materials
• blender
• pulp - objects/items to break down into pulp
